The following calls were logged by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:    Aug. 11    At 7:36 a.m. a resident complained about a man neglecting his chickens. The owner said he planned to get more feed in Juneau in the next few days. The animal control officer said she would follow up.    At 9:16 a.m. a caller reported vandalism to Allen Auditorium.    A resident with barking dogs on Lance Drive was given a warning.    Police talked to people involved in a minor traffic accident in a parking lot.    A caller complained about dogs tied up outside a residence and barking. The owner agreed to take them inside.    At 9:16 p.m. a bear sow and two cubs were reported to be getting into trash on Jamestown Drive.    At 9:33 p.m. a caller in the 1700 block of Sawmill Creek Road reported a sow and three cubs in the neighborhood.    At 9:48 p.m. a resident reported a sow and three cubs, without collars, in her yard, keeping her from getting to her car. When police arrived, they saw one cub running into the woods.    At 10:33 p.m. three cubs got into garbage containers on Wolff Drive. One homeowner was picking up trash when police arrived, and agreed to do a better job securing his garbage.    At 10:37 p.m. a toddler was reported crying on Andrews Street, possibly from a tent. Police could hear kids playing when they arrived but no one crying, and no tents.    At 11:51 p.m. bears were reported going through garbage containers on Wolff Drive. They ran away when police arrived.    Aug. 12    At 12:28 a.m. three cubs were reported on Eliason Street. A homeowner picked up garbage and agreed to put it somewhere more secure. The bears were chased into a wooded area.    At 1:19 a.m. police advised four people causing a disturbance at the fishermen's wall that it was past the closing hours of the wall.    At 1:42 a.m. two bears wre reported trying to get into trash and circling the area on Lance Drive, a resident said.    At 1:45 a.m. a resident called 911 to report bears on Lance Drive.    At 2:36 a.m. police checked on a man outside a restaurant who turned out to be working on the doors.      Emergency Calls    The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 12:20, 2:36, 5:20 and 9:10 p.m. Wednesday and 2:10 a.m. today.      Coast Guard    A helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Sitka medevacked a 46-year-old woman early this morning from Angoon to Sitka. ----------------- I'm headed outside for some sun! Finally! :) Hope the beach will be bear free, but just in case, my bear spray will definitely be with me.
